Maple Park Adult Family Home
Maple Park AFH is owned and operated by Felicia Xu with her husband Dale Summerton and provides personal and attentive care-giving with respect, trust, comfort, and dignity in a residential home for clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, developmental disabilities, and more. The name Maple Park was inspired by the abundance of maple trees in this peaceful and quiet neighborhood near a park setting.
Maple Park AFH is located close to downtown Lynden and is conveniently accessible to medical services, shopping, entertainment, Lynden City Park, library, and senior citizen center as well as being located on the #26 WTA Bus Line.
Felicia is an LPN with 8 years experience with geriatrics, mental health, hospice and has worked in various nursing care facilities throughout Western Washington. In addition to the personal care-giving provided to Maple Park clients, she also handles all medical administration and monitoring. Felicia is part of a long line of doctors & nurses in her family going back to China and has a traditional reverence/respect for the elderly. She is very adept at cooking up Northeastern Chinese cuisine as well as speaking Chinese Mandarin.
Dale, who is a US Navy Veteran and formerly with UPS, is Maple Park's full-time caregiver, handyman, and cook who serves up full-balance meals including standard American comfort food and international cuisine. Dale is always glad to accommodate client requests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as snacks with a never-ending supply of coffee. Dale is well versed in movie, science,art, historical, & literary trivia which makes for great conversation topics at the kitchen table.
Maple Park features the following accommodations:
- front entrance wheelchair ramp
- backyard patio and barbecue for clients and families
- four private rooms and one semiprivate room (cable
television furnished upon request)
- living room and den (with cable television) for
relaxation, socializing, and entertainment
- piano and musical guests. Our son Westy is classically
trained and will play weekly recitals. Clients are always
welcome and encouraged to play the house piano
- meals prepared to clients dietary needs
- carefully screened certified caregivers
- full service laundry
- birthdays recognized and celebrated
