Welcome to Fourth Corner Adult Family Homes!
What is an Adult Family Home?
An adult family home (AFH) is a regular house located in a residential neighborhood that is licensed by DSHS to provide long term housing and adult care for at least two and up to six residents. The AFH may be run by a family, single person, or business partners. Some AFH's allow pets. In some homes, multiple languages are spoken.
All AFH's provide housing and meals (room and board) and assume general responsibilty for the safety and care of the resident. What additional services are offered is different for each home and may include:
- Varying levels of assistance with personal care.
- Intermittent nursing care (a nurse available on a part-time basis).
-Assistance with or administering of medications.
Some AFH's also provide specialized care to people living with developmental disabilities, dementia, or mental illness.
Who is Fourth Corner?
We are one of the largest non-profit associations of Adult Family Home Providers in Washington comprised of homes from Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan and Island Counties. Fourth Corner is a local chapter of the Washington State Residential Care Council (WSRCC).
Our goal is to promote Adult Family Homes and obtain better benefits and services for our residents. We strive to further assist and understand our resident's needs through continuing education. And by cultivating friendly relations with those interested in Adult Family Homes we continue to serve as a support group for all Adult Family Home Providers and Caregivers.
